A Journey to the Truth

Published by under A Journey to the Truth

“Faith and reason are like two wings on which the human spirit rises to the contemplation of truth; and God has placed in the human heart a desire to know the truth—in a word, to know himself—so that, by knowing and loving God, men and women may also come to the fullness of truth about themselves (cf. Ex 33:18; Ps 27:8-9; 63:2-3; Jn 14:8; 1 Jn 3:2).” These are the very first words of Pope John Paul II in his encyclical letter Fides et Ratio. How often do we take in these words and ponder its meaning? How often do we even read an encyclical letter? How often do we contemplate about the truth? To believe (faith) and  to know (reason) with regards to anything on Earth is always a never ending journey for us humans. Truth is God. Truth is our ultimate destiny. Truth is revealed when God reveals himself at the end of time. Unfortunately for some, they believe they have found the truth already. Where do you place yourself?

Ok, that sounds beautiful about faith and reason but will I still reason after I die? I may still have my faith when I die but will I still reason?

Jesus saith to him: I am the way, and the TRUTH, and the life. No man cometh to the Father, but by me. John 14:6

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we saw his glory, the glory as it were of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and TRUTH John 1:14

The spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, nor knoweth him: but you shall KNOW him; because he shall abide with you, and shall be in you. John 14:17

Maria, but my question was not about KNOWING God as you mentioned in your last bible quote. It was about reasoning… what makes a person reason? Is it not their brain? Imagine if a person dies then… will they be able to reason?

My comment was in retaliation to this part of the post

Hahaha… Yeah, that statement was controversial wasn’t it? Haha… whoever wrote it should rethink before posting it. Anyway, you still haven’t answered any of my questions?
